Lead Generation
How to Capture Website Leads: A Step-by-Step Guide
Forms, placement, routing and follow-up — visitor to worked lead.
Traffic is not the hard part for most sites — capturing the intent that is already there is. Here is how to turn more of your visitors into leads your team actually works.
Put a form where visitors already are
Do not hide the form on a contact page. Add it to the pages with intent:
- Product, service and pricing pages
- High-traffic blog posts
- Landing pages for each campaign
- A persistent enquiry option in the header or footer
Ask for the right amount of information
Every field costs you submissions. Ask for what you need to make the first contact and qualify — usually name, email or phone, and one line about what they want. Collect the rest during follow-up.
Route every submission to an owner
A form that emails a shared inbox is a form that loses leads. Each submission should create a lead record, attach the source, and assign an owner automatically.
Follow up fast
Response time is the single biggest lever on conversion for inbound leads. Aim to make first contact in minutes, not days, and schedule the next step straight away.
